Initial state and study of potential impacts: the case of artisanal fisheries

September 25th, 2017|environment|

Artisanal fisheries in a mining concession: a study of ecosystem services Sylvatrop Consulting was mandated to define and quantify the ecosystem services provided by artisanal fisheries located in a mining concession. This study analyzed through a 3-week field survey: the different fishing activities and the types of pirogues used: foot fishing, salan, gbankegnyi, flimbotes, yolis ... the fishing gear used: encircling gillnet, drift gillnet, set gillnet, longline...  frequented fishing areas : identification of fishing areas, coastal fishing, offshore fishing... fish landings : analysis of captured species (35), classification of species according to the IUCN Red List, numbers, size, weight, sexual maturity,

Stockpile: volume calculation and accuracy of results

September 24th, 2017|drone survey|

The drone: an efficient tool for stockpile calculation In order to know precisely the volume of ore to be evacuated and treated, we carried out a survey of this stockpile. Flight time: 18 minutes; Number of pictures taken: 186; Ground control points: 5 ; From the drone data, an orthomosaic of 5cm/pixel resolution is generated as well as a digital terrain model. It is from this digital terrain model that the ore volume of this stockpile is estimated. We then calculate the volume of the stockpile using two software programs that have two different estimation methods. Processing time: 1

Urban planning: topographic calculations and definition of an initial state

May 25th, 2017|drone survey|

Drone and urban planning We have been involved in providing technical assistance for the urban planning of a development area. Thanks to the digital terrain model that we calculated from the data obtained by our drone, we were able to calculate a fine topography on the entire site. We thus transmitted to the customer : isohypse contour lines: 25 cm topographic profiles the slope map Stormwater flow path map Thanks to the high resolution orthomosaic (5 cm/pixel), we have realized different inventories that will correspond to an initial state for the client. All the elements were

Contribution to an environmental impact assessment

Effectiveness of the drone to assess the size of a chimpanzee population Within the framework of the development of a dam, Sylvatrop Consulting was commissioned to carry out a drone survey. Objective: to estimate the size of the local chimpanzee population. Their presence was detected by feeding or nesting signs. In this sector, covering an area of about 4 km², we counted more than 600 nests. They were classified thereafter according to the habitats in which they were present. We amended the study of 3D representations to visualize the potential impact of the reservoir and related developments
